To enrich the children's learning in art, Key Stage 1 children visited The Lowry. Danny our artist host, started the day by giving us private access to the galleries where the children studied and sketched some of L.S.Lowry's most famous pieces, including Coming for the Mill and self portraits of L.S. Lowry himself. The children then used their sketches to paint their family in the style of L.S.Lowry. After lunch, the children used collage and oil pastels to produce a Lowry inspired landscape which including his famous matchstalk men in the foreground. We ended the day with an explosion of colour where the children created their own portrait of Ann, who was originally painted from L.S.Lowry's imagination. It was a wonderful day.
